Pete the Cat

So this guy . . .

Is a huge superstar in my class right now.
So, I decided to make a felt board story for circle time based on the books. I started with White Shoes and Groovy Buttons. These were a huge hit! I did them over and over throughout the day. The kids loved that they could participate in the story and sing the songs. The kids literally dance along to the songs while I sing them!

I made one body with lots of interchangeable pieces. This way I can keep making stories and outfits without having to make a new Pete! Everything is made of felt. I like to sew everything together because it seems to last better then glue when the little fingers in my room get a hold of them!
The kids are also very into pirates right now. So I decided to see if Pete the cat had met any pirates in his adventures. Sadly, he has not. So I made this . . .

I had to make up a story and a song to go along with it. The kids loved it! I told the story four times in the first day! Pete makes a good Pirate! It is a little hard to tell from the pictures but all the pieces come off Pete. In the story I have Pete looking for the parts of his pirate costume. As he finds each piece I put it on and we sing a song about it. So much fun!!!
