Shape Felt Board Activity

I wanted the kids to start working on recognizing the basic shapes so I made this game.

The kids in my group love any circle activity that lets them participate. For this felt board activity I just take random animals from other activities and match them with a black shape silhouette. Each child gets one of the coloured shapes to hold. I sing this song . . .

After I sing about each shape I ask who is holding it, the child holding that shape gets to come up and put it on the board. I plan to make this game harder by removing the silhouettes once the children have mastered it as it is.
